Canopy is among the top wineries producing organic wines and recuperating ancestral Garnachas located at a high altitude in the beautiful "Sierra de Gredos” not far from Madrid.
Belarmino Fernandez and Alfonso Chacon are the hardworking creators of these wines that, as the famed Michel Bettane said in Shanghai, represent the “renaissance of wines in Spain”.
The vision of these oenologists, interested in what the terroir and the grape represent, has placed their wines at the same level as the best low-intervention French wines, perfectly defined by the term “vin de garage”.
Their wines derive their authenticity straight from the land, by selecting the best vines, caring for them sustainably, clearly identifying each plot with only one or two barrels, and blending them in the bottle to create something out of this world.

89 Points - Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) - 2018 and 2019 vintage
Luis Gutiérrez (Robert Parker reviewer for Spain) notes about this wine:
The super approachable and affordable 2018 Ganadero was produced with grapes from the zone of Camarena in the appellation of Méntrida. It fermented in stainless steel with moderate extraction and matured in 500-liter oak barrels for three months. This comes from deeper soils rich in clay, and the profile of the fruit is quite different from the one from El Real de San Vicente bottled as Castillo de Belarfonso. This is darker and riper, with some candied aromas and notes of ripeness as well as berries and a touch of honey. The palate is round, with juicy fruit and almost unnoticeable round tannins.
The entry-level Garnacha red 2019 Ganadero follows the path of previous years and was produced with grapes from the zone of Camarena in the appellation of Méntrida. It's a pale and aromatic, juicy and fruit-driven Garnacha matured in barrel for three months. It's very easy to drink. It's medium-bodied and has very fine, slightly chalky tannins. With time, the aromas turn headier. An impressive and showy vintage. This is really very good and a true bargain. In 2021, they are using some grapes from Gredos for this bottling.
